Bombers Marcellus Bowman Out For Week 9, Doug Brown Is Back

Posted by at 8:54 am

Marcellus Bowman, one of the key linebackers in Winnipeg’s swarming defence, will miss Week 9 against the Hamilton Tigercats due to a turf toe injury.

According to Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun, Bowman has not practiced all week with the injury and will sit out this week in hopes of returning for the Labour Day Classic in Week 10.

“He’s been fighting through it, but I think we need to get him healthy so he can practise,” head coach Paul LaPolice said. “Sometimes it’s hard for those guys to miss practice and then go play.”

Turf toe is a tricky injury. It can come and go in a week. Or it could linger all season. Winnipeg fans should hope it disappears this week or Bowman may be forced to through the injury.

Linebacker Merrill Johnson will start in Bowmans place this week.

Also, the Bombers announced that defensive lineman Doug Brown will return to action this week after missing the last two games with a broken toe.

As if the defensive line needed anymore help in getting to the quarterbacks.
