CFL Week 2 Award Winners
Posted by at 5:09 amDespite losing to Toronto, Winnipegs Buck Pierce was named the CFL offensive player of the week for week 2. Pierce threw for 266 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding a 43 yard touchdown run to finish the night with 103 yards on the ground.
Saskatchewan Roughriders rookie DE Brent Hawkins was awarded defensive player of the week for his 2 sack effort against the Lions. Hawkins also forced a fumble that he recovered himself and returned 47 yards for a TD.
Canadian Player of the week Étienne Boulay of the Montreal Alouettes tallied a career high 8 tackles and added an important 4th quarter interception to seal Montreals victory.
Chad Owens wrapped up the special teams player of the week as the speedster for the Argonauts totaled 272 return yards against the Bombers including returning a missed field goal 117 yards in the 4th quarter for the go ahead touchdown.
